Many people believe that to love yourself means that you do whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want and with little to no regard for others. Many Christians believe that to love yourself is selfish, wrong and, in fact, a sin. Not only that, but that you should put others needs above your own, even at the cost of meeting your own needs.
A child may resolve to never play with a friend again following a dispute on the playground. The words are given in the heat of the moment and hurt, but we all know that usually lasts for a day until the domination of the sandbox is up for grabs again!

Hearing this exchange with my granddaughter regarding their nativity scene, gave me pause to think.
Christmas has culturally become a very busy season with the trappings of finding the exact gift for each person on the “list”, hoping they will like it and will not be standing in a Boxing Day lineup, returning the unwanted item for something considered more desirable.
